An experienced IP litigator, Anna has helped a wide variety of clients enforce their intellectual property rights and defend against claims of infringement by others.
Anna Halsey counsels clients on intellectual property and complex litigation matters, emphasizing patent litigation and licensing disputes. She represents companies in district courts across the country seeking to enforce their intellectual property rights and those accused of patent, trademark, trade dress, trade secret, and copyright infringement. No matter the size of your company, Anna has worked with someone like you; she has represented clients of all sizes, from solo inventors to start-ups to Fortune 100 companies.
Anna's extensive litigation experience includes jury trials, evidentiary hearings, preliminary injunction hearings, Markman briefings and hearings, summary judgment proceedings, federal and state appeals, International Trade Commission Section 337 investigations, and participating in mediation and settlement negotiations. She has litigated claims in all areas of intellectual property, including utility and design patent infringement, trademark infringement, trade dress infringement, trade secret infringement, copyright infringement, and intellectual property licensing. In addition to her graduate school training in human and molecular genetics, Anna has worked on a wide range of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, computer software, food science, agricultural and manufacturing technologies, cellular, automotive, and LCD chip technology, and has experience litigating Standard Essential Patents and Hatch-Waxman cases. Anna also consults with clients to help strengthen their patent prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, performs intellectual property due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and drafts clients' intellectual property agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
Anna is also a member of the firm's cannabis industry team, where she focuses on intellectual property issues related to cannabis. Anna is a co-author of "The State of Cannabis Law: A Fifty State Compendium," published by Wolters Kluwer.
Anna's prior experience includes serving as an intellectual property litigator at a nationwide litigation-focused law firm. In addition to her work as an intellectual property litigator, Anna devotes significant pro bono time to working on wrongful conviction cases and representing a class of medically fragile children receiving Medicaid in the state of Georgia.
- Negotiated intellectual property agreement terms for a corporate client’s development agreement.
- Negotiated a non-disclosure agreement for an inventor seeking to monetize invention.
- Performed intellectual property due diligence analysis for a cannabis industry client.
- Obtained summary judgment of non-infringement for an automotive parts manufacturer accused of trade dress infringement.
- Represented a software engineering firm in a patent infringement action against three computer and hard disk drive manufacturers and obtained a jury verdict finding the client’s patent valid and infringed.
