Brittany Edwards-Franklin counsels clients on a range of tax and ERISA employee benefits matters, including qualified retirement plans, nonqualified deferred compensation, health and welfare arrangements, and executive compensation.

She also advises on employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions.

Her extensive experience includes design, implementation, and compliance for tax-qualified retirement plans, including navigating IRS and DOL correction programs such as the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS), the Delinquent Filer Voluntary Compliance Program (DFVCP), the Voluntary Fiduciary Correction Program (VFCP), and negotiating voluntary closing agreements.  In addition, she routinely counsels clients and plan committees on satisfying ERISA fiduciary duties. 

Brittany’s practice also includes advising clients on executive compensation arrangements, payroll tax matters, tax reporting compliance, and fringe benefit design and tax treatment. In connection with this advice, Brittany often negotiates multi-year vendor agreements to support benefit plan offerings.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland (US) as an associate, Brittany participated in the firm’s Summer Associate program. Her previous experience includes working as a law clerk for Legal Aid of North Carolina, where she assisted with employment law matters. She also served as an extern for Judge Allyson Duncan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
