Clay advises real estate sponsors and institutional investors on matters related to development and investments in commercial real estate projects. 

These include construction, financing, equity formation, sales, and programmatic joint ventures and platforms.

With more than 20 years of extensive experience, Clay has developed a thorough understanding of the commercial real estate landscape to guide clients in the various acquisition, development, disposition, and debt and equity transactions ranging from $200 million to $2 billion.

He also devotes significant time to counseling large developers in complex, urban developments involving the multifamily, office, retail, industrial, hospitality and senior-living sectors throughout the United States.

  • Represented a developer in the joint venture agreement for the development of a mixed-use development project in Cary, North Carolina.
  • Represented Preferred Office Properties in the acquisition of a 169,000-square-foot office building in suburban Birmingham, Alabama, and the negotiation of related parking and easement agreements.
  • Represented the sponsor in a programmatic joint venture for the development of industrial and logistics centers in major markets throughout the United States.
