David is a member of Eversheds Sutherland (US)'s Insurance team.

David counsels clients on issues affecting today’s increasingly global insurance industry, including ratemaking and reinsurance, licensing, mergers and acquisitions, product design, insolvencies and corporate finance.

Though he has a broad background in California insurance law, David’s practice is truly national in scope. He has represented both buyers and sellers in M&A transactions involving some of the industry’s largest, best-known entities.  He has also provided legal counsel on several of the most significant industry insolvencies of the past three decades, including Executive Life Insurance Company, First Capital Life Insurance Company, Golden Eagle Insurance Company, and Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc..

David advises clients on a range of insurance industry regulatory matters involving producers, insurers, adjusters, administrators and other service providers.  David also counsels clients in numerous specialty areas, including workers' compensation insurance, title insurance, financial guaranty insurance, mortgage guaranty insurance, reciprocal insurers, service contracts (extended warranties) and point-of-purchase insurance products sold in connection with retail goods and services. 
 

  • Represented Munich Re Digital Partners US Holding Corporation, a member of the Munich Re Group, on its acquisition of American Digital Title Insurance Company, a Colorado-domiciled title insurance company operating in approximately 33 states.
  • Represented Munich American Reassurance Company and Munich Re New Ventures in establishing Parachute Digital Solutions, an end-to-end insurance platform for digital marketing and sale of insurance products throughout the US.
  • Represented Automobile Club of Southern California in the acquisition of 50% of Motor Club Insurance Company and in the formation of a related joint venture.
  • Represented Scottish Widows in its pension risk longevity reinsurance transaction with Prudential Insurance Company.
