David W. Cone

David Cone, resident in the Atlanta office, represents developers, pension fund administrators, commercial mortgage servicers, lenders, and borrowers in a range of real estate and real estate finance matters.

David’s real estate finance practice includes a concentration in securitized commercial real estate loans, structured finance, commercial mortgage loan origination, and loan servicing. David also regularly counsels developers and investors in their most significant real estate projects throughout the US, including the regular representation of energy clients in the development, acquisition, and financing of traditional and alternative energy projects.

Before joining the firm as an associate, David participated in Eversheds Sutherland (US)'s Summer Associate program. He also served as an intern to the Honorable William S. Duffey, Jr. of the United States District Court, Northern District of Georgia.

Prior to entering the legal profession, David worked as a real estate broker for a residential developer in Atlanta.

  • Represented WEC Energy Group, Inc. (NYSE: WEC) in the acquisition of the Darien Solar Energy Center, a 325 megawatt solar and battery storage project.
  • Advised a large renewable energy developer, owner and operator in connection with the acquisition of an approximately 69MWac development stage solar project in Virginia.
  • Represented EG Group in the $330 million acquisition of the Minit Mart convenience store portfolio of TravelCenters of America LLC.
  • Represented a wastewater treatment company in the acquisition of three wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Represented Foley Timber and Land Company in connection with its sale of certain minerals and related assets.
  • Represented Consolidated Edison Development Inc. in connection with its acquisition of a Texas solar project for $227 million from OCI Solar Power.
