Kevin Thomas is a partner in the Real Estate Practice Group and currently leads Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP’s Middle East and Islamic Finance Initiatives. Kevin represents clients in virtually all types of commercial real estate projects, including, retail, multi-family, office, hospitality, data center and mixed-use projects.

Kevin regularly represents investors from Europe and the Middle East in connection with direct investments into US real estate.  

As a partner on the Forestry & Climate Solutions team, Kevin has been involved in many of the most significant timberland transactions of the last decade. Kevin has extensive experience advising timberland investors on all aspects of timberland projects, including, acquisitions, dispositions, timber deeds and leases, long-term supply agreements, solar leases, mitigation banking, conservation easements and carbon sequestration projects, as well as joint ventures and financing related to these projects.

  • Represented a Timberland Investment Management Organization (TIMO) in the liquidation of more than $1 billion of timberlands across the United States.
  • Represented Ben Carter Enterprises in its redevelopment of more than 250,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, residential and office spaces along historic Broughton Street in Savannah, Georgia.
  • Represented CoBank, ABC as lead arranger and administrative agent in a syndicated financing that provided $750 million in credit facilities secured by approximately 1.1 million acres of timberlands in Texas.
  • Represented Fuqua Development in its Madison Yards project on the Beltline in Atlanta, Georgia, consisting of approximately 550 residential units, 80,000 square feet of office space and 160,000 square feet of retail space.
  • Represented Forest Capital Partners in connection with its sale of approximately two million acres of timberlands in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Louisiana and Minnesota.
  • Represented an international agricultural firm in its formation of a joint venture with a US partner to develop and operate a 16,000-acre farm in northwest Arizona.
  • Named to The Best Lawyers in America in the area of real estate law (2024)
