Bill's practice focuses on representing parties in the construction industry. 

He helps his clients anticipate and solve potential problems and counsels them on day-to-day operations. Bill represents owners, contractors, and design professionals in the drafting and negotiation of construction contracts and in all aspects of both construction litigation and arbitration, including prosecuting and defending against claims. He has significant experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts for developers and large institutional investors for multi-family projects.

With more than 30 years of experience, Bill has mediated, litigated, and arbitrated a host of issues, including delay, acceleration, extra work, and construction defect claims. He has defended design professionals on high-profile wrongful death and personal injury claims resulting from structures that collapse while under construction, guided major metropolitan school districts through their multi-million dollar construction programs, and resolve disputes involving construction defects on multi-family projects and delay claims on large professional sports facilities.

  • Eversheds Sutherland advised T.Y. Lin International in connection with its acquisition of Greeley and Hansen, a leader in developing innovative engineering solutions for a wide array of water, wastewater, water reuse and solid waste challenges.
  • Represents architecture and engineering clients in multiple acquisitions.
  • Defended building automation contractor against claims by state agency that the system did not produce the energy savings promised by the contractor.
  • Negotiating several contracts with and litigating claims against GSFIC on high profile State of Georgia projects.
  • Negotiated construction agreements for a Board of Regents Student Dormitory in public private partnership project.
  • Advising a large telecommunications company in a public private partnership matter in the western United States.
  • Defended a real estate developer against claims that its project caused extensive flooding to an adjacent subdivision in violation of state law and the federal Clean Water Act.
  • Assisted a global commercial real estate services and investment management firm with its acquisition of one of the country’s leading multi-discipline engineering firms.
  • Represented a steel erector in disputes with the general contractor and owner involving the late completion of a football stadium.
  • Defended an international design firm against claims that late and negligently designed plans for a multi-purpose stadium caused the owner to incur millions of dollars in acceleration damages to overcome delays in the project.
  • Represented an owner and a general contractor in a construction case involving delay and defect claims against a subcontractor.
  • Assisted a global commercial real estate services and investment management firm with its acquisition of one of the country’s leading multi-discipline engineering firms.
  • Represented international real estate services company in connection with its acquisition of multi-discipline engineering firm.
  • Serves as lead construction law counsel and advises one of the largest developers and owners of master-planned business parks on a high-profile luxury hotel to be built at one of the busiest airports in the US.
  • Represented design professional of billion-dollar construction project in dispute involving standard of care and delay/acceleration claims.
