Atlanta (May 5, 2009) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce that partner, Charles T. Lester, Jr., has been awarded the second annual Seth D. Kirschenbaum Diversity Award by the Multi-Bar Leadership Council. Mr. Lester was honored on April 1, 2009, alongside Judge Marvin S. Arrington, Sr., for their joint creation of the Georgia Diversity Program and their continued commitment to expanding diversity in the legal profession. The Georgia Diversity Program was founded 17 years ago and has fostered diversity in the Georgia Bar through education, pipeline programs and committee work.
The Seth Kirschenbaum Award is named for a past president of the Atlanta Bar Association who organized what would be the founding of the Multi-Bar Leadership Council. The award was created in recognition of Mr. Kirschenbaum’s commitment to and affirmative actions toward creating a sense of community and commonality among diverse segments of the legal profession.
