On May 30, 2013, join Sutherland's Hedge Funds and Other Private Funds Team for a Quick Call regarding the CFTC's highly anticipated final "swap dealer" and "major swap participant" definitions.
The swap dealer and major swap participant definitions were adopted last month and are considered a key component of the new regulatory regime that the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (the Dodd-Frank Act) imposes on over-the-counter derivatives. Persons that are deemed swap dealers or major swap participants will be required to register with the CFTC and comply with a myriad of substantive regulatory requirements.
Sutherland attorneys James M. Cain, Daphne G. Frydman, David T. McIndoe and Raymond A. Ramirez will provide details about the final swap dealer and major swap participant definitions, focusing primarily on how those definitions are likely to affect hedge funds and other private funds.
