The Need to Factor Asset Risk Into LNG Terminal Agreement Negotiations

April 30, 2007 - May 3, 2007

2007 Offshore Technology Conference

Sutherland Counsel Steven C. Sparling was a co-presenter with Pedram Fanailoo with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) at the 2007 Offshore Technology Conference, April 30 through May 3 in Houston, Texas. As developers race around the globe building LNG terminals, companies acquiring capacity at those terminals are analyzing their reliability and operability and how to manage the risk associated with synchronizing shipping schedules with terminal access rights and downstream sales commitments. Steven and Pedram's joint presentation, titled "The Need to Factor Asset Risk Into LNG Terminal Agreement Negotiations," discussed a risk-based, analytical approach that has been applied to achieve this in several North American LNG terminals.
