Sutherland Partner Clifford E. Kirsch is co-chair of the ABCs of Mutual Funds 2008, hosted by the Practising Law Institute, June 11, 2008, in New York City, and is presenting an overview of mutual fund organization and structure. In addition, Sutherland Partner Bibb L. Strench is presenting on "Understanding the Relationship Between the Mutual Fund and its Adviser." His presentation will cover the difference between a mutual fund "sponsor," "manager," "investment adviser" and "administrator;" the difference between internal and external management; and the mystery of mutual fund fees and expenses.
This program is designed to provide attendees with a solid overview of the regulatory regime and operations of the $8 trillion mutual fund industry. Attendees will learn how the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 have shaped the formation and structure of this industry, and about major changes and developments that are likely to result in SEC regulatory initiatives in the year ahead. Further, the program will offer insights into recent rulemaking, including pending disclosure reform, recent litigation and enforcement activities.
This program will be available online via live webcast. For more information and to register for this event, click here.
