American Conference Institute’s Derivatives Boot Camp

Sutherland attorneys Warren N. Davis, Robin J. Powers and Paul B. Turner are speaking at the American Conference Institute’s Derivatives Boot Camp, November 5-6, 2007, at the Downtown Conference Center in New York City. Robin’s presentation, "Documenting Credit Derivative Confirmations," will include: key terms in credit default swap (CDS) confirmations; typical differences between confirmation for North American and European reference entities; typical differences between confirmations for corporate and sovereign reference entities; the May 2003 supplement to the 2003 ISDA® credit derivatives definitions; and documenting index trades and CDS on ABS trades.

Paul is presenting on "Energy and Commodity Derivatives Transactions." His presentation will discuss the mechanics of commodity forwards, swaps and options; understanding when delivery occurs; commodity price indices; what regulation governs; hedging strategies for commodity derivatives; and new entrants in gas markets.

The Derivatives Boot Camp will provide attendees with a thorough understanding of trading terms, documentation requirements, financial considerations and constraints, and legal risks involved in derivatives transactions.
