Bill Cooper, executive director of the Center for Liquefied Natural Gas (CLNG), criticized the conclusions of a recent report released by scientists at Carnegie Mellon University that suggested certain coal-based technologies may emit less greenhouse gasses than LNG-based technology. In particular, Cooper stated that the report founded its conclusions on coal-based technologies that have not been fully developed while not accounting for similar advances in LNG technologies.
