A report issued by Booz & Co. hypothesizes that CO2 emission policies in the United States could compel the U.S. market to compete more directly with Europe for LNG cargos over the next several years as it seeks to replace carbon-intensive electricity generation with gas-fired generation. According to Oil & Gas Journal, the report goes on to suggest that investments in European LNG infrastructure may not pay off if cargos are diverted to the United States.
