Celeste Pickron, an attorney in Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP's Tax Practice Group in Atlanta, passed away July 22, 2011.
Ms. Pickron spent most of her career at Sutherland – joining the firm in 1985 and becoming a partner in 1990. She represented clients in tax planning and controversy matters, with a particular emphasis on partnership, limited liability company and real estate tax issues. Well-respected in her field, she was named to "The Best Lawyers in America" in the area of tax law for 14 consecutive years.
Ms. Pickron served as an adjunct professor for Emory University's graduate tax program and was very involved in the greater Atlanta community. One of her favorite organizations was The Atlanta Women’s Foundation.
Ms. Pickron received both her B.S. and J.D. from The University of Alabama in 1971 and 1974, respectively, and her LL.M. with honors from Georgetown University Law Center in 1979. Shortly after earning her law degree, she spent five years at the Office of Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service.
Services for Ms. Pickron will be held Friday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3003 Howell Mill Road NW, Atlanta, Georgia. A reception will follow on-site in Williams Hall.
