Sutherland Attorneys Take on Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010

July 12, 2011

ATLANTA (Tuesday, July 12, 2011) – As the new Federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau sets to take the stage next week, two attorneys from Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, B. Knox Dobbins and Jason D. Stone, launch a website to provide real-time updates on the rapidly changing landscape of federal financial reform.

The website,, is designed to function as an electronic pocket part to the duo’s book The Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010-An Annotated Guide. Published in May by North Law Publishers,, the book provides a section-by-section analysis of the CFPA breakdown, along with a detailed legislative history, bibliography, and jurisdictional chart.

"We hope that the website, which Jason and I will update frequently, will be of help to all, whether or not a website visitor has purchased our book," said Mr. Dobbins, a member of Sutherland's Corporate Practice Group. "But we also hope to direct attention back to our North Law publication, which we believe to be a very valuable tool in working with the CFPA."

Mr. Dobbins focuses his practice principally on banking, consumer financial services and restructuring matters. He regularly advises consumer finance companies on compliance and privacy matters and participates in restructurings and financings across the country.

Mr. Stone is a member of Sutherland’s Corporate Practice Group, where he focuses his practice on commercial lending, consumer financial services and bankruptcy and restructuring matters. Jason has a decade of experience in the legal and manufacturing industries.
