Tax Executives Institute State & Local Tax Course

Sutherland attorneys Eric S. Tresh and Pilar Mata are speaking at the TEI State and Local Tax Course on July 15-16, 2010, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Diann and Pilar will be making two presentations on “The Protests” and “Mock State Appellate Hearing.” Eric’s presentation is an “Introduction of State Franchise and New Worth Taxes.”

This course focuses mainly on state corporate income taxation and will address key concepts such as nexus, calculation of the corporate income tax, allocation and apportionment, and filing methodologies. The course will also cover FAS 5, FAS 109, and FIN 48, as well as the evolving subject of international financial reporting standards. The program also includes sessions on state tax planning, franchise taxes, sales taxes, and professionalism and ethics.
