Sutherland Attorneys Publish Leading Resource on Insurance Regulation with PLI

June 29, 2012

NEW YORK (June 29, 2012) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce the publication of the Insurance Regulation Answer Book 2013, a high-level overview of the legal and regulatory framework governing the insurance industry in the United States published by the Practising Law Institute (PLI). Edited by Sutherland Partners Cynthia R. Shoss and John S. Pruitt, formerly global co-chairs of the Dewey & LeBoeuf Insurance Regulatory Department, along with Sutherland Associate Justin K. Kitchens, the 2013 edition features key updates on the complex and constantly changing area of insurance regulation.

“Increasingly, the state-based system of regulation of insurance in the United States must be understood in the context of national and international developments that affect the business and regulation of insurance," said Mr. Pruitt. “The Insurance Regulation Answer Book provides a single resource for business decision makers on key issues that could affect their businesses."

The 2013 edition includes updates regarding:

  • Proposed regulations implementing the Dodd-Frank Act
  • Amendments to the NAIC Credit for Reinsurance Model Law and Model Regulation
  • Implications of the delayed implementation of Solvency II
  • Increasing role of federal and international regulation of insurers
