Amanda is a commercial litigator, counseling clients on a variety of complex business litigation.
Her practice focuses on professional liability matters, with a particular emphasis on accounting liability.
Amanda represents accounting firms and their professionals, public and private companies, officers and directors, insurance companies, and national law firms in federal and state court litigation, bankruptcy court adversary proceedings, arbitration, before the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and in connection with Department of Justice, grand jury, and other civil and criminal investigative bodies. She also represents broker-dealers, registered representatives, and investment advisors in securities arbitrations, regulatory investigations and other proceedings, including arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
Her practice also expands to construction litigation. She has experience navigating clients through complex contract disputes and litigating various federal and state regulatory issues.
- Provide antitrust and other advice to an agricultural trade association.
- Obtained a dismissal with prejudice for the former president of a publicly traded clothing company in a DOJ criminal prosecution for conspiracy to commit financial statement fraud.
- Part of team winning four-week bench trial and subsequent appeals on behalf of a brokerage firm/investment bank and an individual investment banker, alleging securities fraud, common law fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty.
- Defended a real estate developer against claims that its project caused extensive flooding to an adjacent subdivision in violation of state law and the federal Clean Water Act.
- Defended a Big Four accounting firm in a multi-billion-dollar professional negligence case arising out of the bankruptcy of one of the largest privately held mortgage origination companies in the United States, resolving the matter to the mutual satisfaction of the parties after discovery.
