A banking and finance lawyer for more than 35 years, Knox Dobbins counsels banks, nonbank lenders and insurance companies on banking, consumer financial services and restructuring matters. Knox advises consumer finance companies on compliance and privacy matters and participates in restructurings and financings across the country. He has guided banks, nonbank lenders and national retail chains in administering credit programs and has helped these clients confront successive new disclosure, fee and interest, privacy and credit access regimes.
Understanding that effective compliance efforts are influenced by regulatory relationships, Knox has developed contacts with legacy bank regulators, state credit offices and insurance commissioners with jurisdiction over installment lending. He monitors consumer financial legal developments, especially regarding the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and advises clients on compliance issues. He co-authored a guide entitled The Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010 published by NorthLaw and founded www.CFPAguide.com, the Eversheds Sutherland (US) website that provides real-time updates on CFPA.
