Carmen is Head of Konexo US, a division of Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP.

Carmen is responsible for the development and delivery of Konexo’s strategy and services in the US, and works closely with her colleagues around the world on Konexo’s global offerings. Konexo, developed by Eversheds Sutherland, provides a broad portfolio of legal managed services, interim resource solutions and consultancy services to in-house legal, compliance, HR, and corporate secretarial functions. Konexo deploys the latest intelligent analytics, automation technology, and innovative operational processes to offer flexible access to the right blend of skills and experience.

Prior to leading Konexo, Carmen was counsel in Eversheds Sutherland’s Securities Enforcement and Litigation practices and has significant experience managing large, multidisciplinary, cross-border investigations. She managed a large cross-border investigation from the initial design, scoping, and management of the investigation through remediation and to the successful resolution with the US Department of Justice and post-regulatory resolution requirements. Carmen has also conducted a cross-border internal investigation to determine whether there were violations of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by an Indian subsidiary of a non-US-owned company.

She also represented broker-dealers and individual securities clients in investigations, regulatory, and enforcement matters involving the Financial Industry Regulation Authority (FINRA), the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and state securities commissions, as well as related FINRA arbitrations.

Carmen has also advised corporate and individual clients in matters, including tax controversy, trade secrets misappropriation, employment discrimination, and class-action insurance defense.

In addition to her legal background, Carmen has extensive business management experience, having spent considerable time on employment and labor issues, sales and marketing, finance, and general management. She worked more than 12 years with InterContinental Hotels Group serving as general manager of hotels across the US. Immediately before law school, Carmen was general manager of the former Crowne Plaza at the United Nations in New York City.

Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Carmen was the Snyder Visiting Scholar at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law at Cambridge University (UK). Carmen was a varsity swimmer at Indiana University-Bloomington.

Carmen currently serves on the firm’s hiring and pro bono committees.
