Of Counsel

Chuck Locke counsels insurers, reinsurers and distributors on state insurance regulatory issues. A member of Eversheds Sutherland (US)'s Financial Practices Group, Chuck has a thorough grounding in compliance, market conduct, formation and licensing of insurers and agencies, product development, corporate governance, reinsurance, investments and claim litigation.

As a former general counsel and secretary and a current director and Audit Committee chairperson at a New York-domiciled life and health insurer, Chuck is familiar with all aspects of life insurance operations including Holding Company Act matters and market conduct examinations. His previous experience as in-house counsel as well as his 25 years of experience in private practice gives him keen insight into clients’ needs and concerns, as well as the constraints under which they must frequently work; a valuable perspective in such a heavily regulated industry. Also, Chuck is an insurance/reinsurance arbitrator certified by ARIAS-U.S.
