Chris Bloomfield

Chris Bloomfield counsels clients on a broad range of cybersecurity and data privacy matters, including emerging risks, new products, and a wide variety of compliance and regulatory matters.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Chris worked for a premier cybersecurity company where he managed a team of cyber intelligence analysts embedded at a Federal cybersecurity agency. He regularly advised his client as to emerging cyber threats, technological developments, geopolitical and military matters, including matters relating to major cyber events involving supply chain compromise and ransomware attacks.

Chris also gained experience serving as a federal intelligence officer in the Intelligence Community where he delivered classified and unclassified cyber threat intelligence to US government organizations and critical infrastructure, including the financial sector. Prior, Chris managed a team at a defense contractor, providing cybersecurity analysis to large commercial companies. Chris has deep technical knowledge and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

Chris is admitted to the Virginia State Bar. His work is supervised by District of Columbia Bar members.

  • Represented IGM Financial, one of Canada's largest diversified wealth and asset management companies, in its purchase of an approximately 20.5 percent equity interest in Rockefeller Capital Management, for consideration of approximately $622 million.
  • Represented Mutual of America Life Insurance Company, a New York domestic mutual life and annuity insurer, on its acquisition of 100% of the stock of Grandmark Funds, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary, Landmark Life Insurance Company.
