With more than 18 years of experience, Ginger represents multinational companies in matters involving US government regulation of foreign trade and investment.

She has extensive experience advising and representing global companies in the energy, defense, aerospace, telecommunication, software and other high-tech industries, counseling clients in matters arising under US sanctions, export controls, import and other national security, and foreign policy trade-related regulations.

Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Ginger worked for a global law firm where she represented multinational corporations in a variety of geographies and industry sectors, supporting clients in identifying, managing and addressing strategic compliance and enforcement risks under various US trade laws and regulations. Specifically, Ginger is experienced in conducting large-scale compliance systems reviews, leading and responding to due diligence and systems reviews in major multinational M&A transactions, and advising and representing clients before the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in licensing and enforcement matters. She also regularly advises and represents buyers and sellers before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

With a focus on the energy sector, Ginger has conducted expansive US economic sanctions, export controls and anticorruption investigations in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Latin America. She also advised clients under investigation by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and US Customs and Border Protection.

  • Develops supply chain tracing procedures and conducts global supply chain audits for compliance with US regulations related to Conflict Minerals and Forced Labor.
  • Advises on import (HTS) classifications and supply chain considerations arising under US Section 301 and 232 tariffs and tariff mitigation.
  • Advises energy, technology and aerospace companies on export control (EAR and ITAR) compliance, classification, licensing and enforcement matters.
  • Represents buyers and sellers before CFIUS, the Defense Security Service and the DDTC in US inbound foreign investment transactions.
  • Negotiates sanctions compliance and related contract provisions in large, cross-border investment transactions.
  • Provides compliance advice, compliance benchmarking, compliance systems development and compliance training to a range of corporate audiences.
  • Leads and responds to sanctions regulatory due diligence reviews in major multinational M&A transactions in the manufacturing, trading, energy, technology, aerospace and defense sectors.
  • Leads large-scale, multijurisdictional sanctions compliance systems reviews.
  • Conducts internal investigations and represents banks, companies and individuals in administrative and criminal sanctions investigations with Iran, Cuba, Syria and North Korea.
  • Manages sanctions compliance risks for large commodity trading companies engaged in a high volume of trades with counterparties in every major region of the world.
  • Represents energy and technology companies before OFAC, BIS and DDTC in licensing and administrative enforcement matters.
  • Represented a US oil refining company in a successful CFIUS review of a refinery purchase by a Chinese-owned company.
  • Advised a US online services company on OFAC sanctions and secured OFAC licenses for commercial activities in Iran and Sudan.
  • Advised a US commercial and military aircraft parts supplier on ITAR compliance, licensing and enforcement matters.
  • Advised a major multinational oilfield company in connection with a number of Department of Justice investigations involving activities in sanctioned countries.
  • Represented the seller and target company before CFIUS, the Defense Security Service and the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls in the acquisition by a Hong Kong company of an aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul company.
