Joseph (Joe) leads Eversheds Sutherland's Federal Energy Regulatory Group. 

He represents electric utilities, independent power producers, power marketers, industrial customers, private equity firms, and other entities in connection with regulatory, enforcement, and compliance matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), state regulatory commissions, and federal and state courts.

Joe is well-liked and respected around the industry, by both market participants and regulators. Joe is “[a]bsolutely terrific. He's creative, strategic and talented. Joe advises entities developing and investing in energy infrastructure. He also advises entities on regulatory issues associated with mergers and acquisitions and asset purchases. Joe litigates “open access,” generator interconnection, power purchase agreements, organized market participation, and renewable and distributed generation issues at FERC and state regulatory bodies.

His extensive experience includes advising clients on transmission and wholesale power rate cases, market-based rate, and FERC enforcement matters. Additionally, Joe has extensive experience advising entities on federal and state issues relating to the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA). He has litigated PURPA issues at FERC and state regulatory commissions.

Joe regularly publishes and speaks at industry conferences on energy issues; is frequently interviewed by the television media; and is quoted in national and industry press such as Forbes, Public Utilities Fortnightly, E&E, Utility Dive, World Energy News, Law360 and many other publications.
