Bill Watts is a corporate securities attorney who represents clients in the creation and operation of domestic and non-U.S. investment funds and private equity funds. He is experienced drafting contracts and negotiating business transactions; including investments in real estate, venture capital and corporate buyout funds. Bill also provides companies everyday management advice regarding compliance with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940, risk management and general corporate matters.
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland (US) as an associate, Bill spent five years with a registered investment adviser in North Carolina, serving as director of regulatory affairs, chief compliance officer and the firm’s corporate secretary. As sole legal counsel, he advised the firm on all legal matters with an emphasis on securities law. Bill also worked as a staff attorney with the SEC’s Division of Enforcement and was selected as a member of its Advanced Commitment Program.
